Edythe Taylor McDaniel's Obituary
Edythe T. McDaniel, age 95, of Fort Myers, Fl.,?á passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011. Edythe is preceeded in death by her first husband Rodger Shawcross; her second husband Leonard Taylor; third husband Dawson McDanial; and two sisters, Esther Fink and Francis Preston.?á She is survived by her son Rodger (Marian) Shawcross Jr.; a brother Ben (Pat) Taylor; and a sister Marie (Don) Black. Grandchildren include Janee Shawcross, and Nicole (Jason) Lawhon. Great Grandchildren include Mariah Sangermano, Devin Findley, Nathan Lawhon, and Bryan Lawhon. Edythe also has four stepchildren, Nancy (Theodore) Johnson,?á Dawson C.?á McDaniel (Georgianna), Jacqueline (Bill) Mills, Barbara (Frank) Daniels, and their families.Born in Clayton, N.J., Edythe came to Fort Myers in 1925. Educated in Lee Schools and Fla. State University, her career spanned 29 years in the field of education. She was also a charter member and one of the founders of the Fort Myers Beach Women?ÇÖs Club, and St. Raphael?ÇÖs Episcopal Church. She was also a past Pink Lady, member of the Whiskey Creek Country Club, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Caloosa Nature Center, and the Lee Co. Pioneer Club.A memorial service will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida 33907, at 11:00am on Friday, February 18, 2011. Friends will be received from 10am until the time of the service.?á In lieu of flowers, memorials may me made to St. Jude Children?ÇÖs Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
