Eileen Sullivan Barr's Obituary
Eileen Sullivan (Rihn) Barr, 86, of Westerville, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in the early morning hours. She was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Pennsylvania and was raised in Saxonburg, PA and the Millvale neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA by her parents along with two brothers and one sister. Eileen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas “Tom” J. Barr. She is survived by her sister, Margaretta “Peggy” (Rihn) Lutz and her five children; Eileen Burke (John), Deborah “Debby” Baldrige (Charles), Terrence “Terry” Barr, Suzanne “Susie” Barr (Roland Soliz), and Mary Lou Barr (Hans Glandorff); her five grandchildren; Bobby Benn (Margot Herman), Michelle Benn, Katie Morton (Christopher), David Baldrige (Alison VanDerKolk), and Michael Baldrige; and her four great-grandchildren, Evalyn “Evie” Benn, Elisha Morton, Caroline Baldrige and Patrick Baldrige. Eileen was the sister of the late David Rihn and the late Paul Rihn.Eileen graduated from St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in Pittsburgh, PA in 1951 and worked as a nurse before raising her children. She and Tom raised their family in Bethel Park, PA. Eileen enjoyed being at home with her children and pursuing her passions of gardening, decorating and sewing. She and her family loved the beach, with Hatteras Beach on the Outer Banks of NC being a favorite vacation place. Eileen and Tom moved to Ft. Myers, FL in 1973. During these years Eileen worked as a personal shopper and was known for her excellent taste in fashion and her ability to help her clients feel beautiful. Eileen and Tom enjoyed their retirement years in Florida with many trips to the beach, travel and time entertaining friends and family. After Tom’s death in 2003, Eileen moved to Palmetto, FL to be near her daughters, Mary Lou and Susie, and met many wonderful friends at the Country Lakes Village community. In 2012, Eileen moved to Ohio to live with her daughter, Debby and her family. Eileen spent her final years making new friends in Ohio and surrounded by family. Eileen was a loving, vibrant and special lady who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Visitation will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Heritage Christian Church, 7413 Maxtown Road, Westerville, OH 43082. Celebration of life and memorial service to follow on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:30 am at Heritage Christian Church, 7413 Maxtown Road, Westerville, OH 43082.
