Elinor G. Hingson's Obituary
Elinor G. Hingson,96, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away Friday, July 17, 2020, in Boca Raton, FL. She was born March 4, 1924 in Luverne, AL to the late Glenn A. and Dora E. Andrews.
After moving to Canal Point from Alabama with her family in the mid 1930’s, she became a member of the Canal Point Baptist Church. Professionally, she worked for Joseph Kahn, at Kahn’s Department Store, on S. Lake Ave., Pahokee, during the 1940’s.
In the late 1940's Elinor married Earl Hingson, Sr. During the early 1950's they started a family while living in Pahokee. Elinor began her career within the food service industry in the late 1950's. She worked for the Hendry and Palm Beach County school systems for many years until her retirement.After retiring, Elinor was a housewife, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking; she was famous for her butternut and pound cakes. She was also an avid amateur genealogist researcher and was a photographic historian of the Glades area. When Elinor finally decided to move closer to family, she resided in Boynton Beach. Elinor will be remembered as a true friend for life to those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by son, Earl E. “Gene” Hingson, Jr., (Karen Hingson); grandson, Donald F. “DJ” Manger, Jr. (Robertta Manger); great-grandson, Blake A. Manger; great-granddaughter, Kendall A. Manger; as well as a host of cousins, and many, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earl E. Hingson, Sr.; her father and mother, Glenn A. and Dora E. Andrews, of Canal Point; as well as brothers, Andrew D. “Dewitt” Andrews of Lake Worth/Lake Worth and James E. Andrews of West Palm Beach.
Family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, July 22nd at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home; 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL. A service will follow at 12:30pm. Face mask and practicing social distancing guidelines are mandatory.
