Elizabeth "Libby" Ekiss' Obituary
Elizabeth “Libby” Ekiss of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Florida. She was 93. Libby was born August 17, 1923 in Evansville, Indiana; the beautiful daughter of the late Alvin and Frances Neel. She was a proud graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama – Class of 1942. Libby enjoyed camping with her family and enjoyed travels to Europe. She proudly noted she visited and camped in every state in the nation with the exception of Rhode Island. She was an active member of the Jesterettes, Daughters of the Nile and served as Past High Priestess in the Ladies Oriental Shrine. In years past, Libby volunteered as a “pink Lady” with Lee Memorial Hospital, enjoyed square dancing, clogging and she was an avid golfer. In addition to her volunteer and civic involvement and activities, she opened Libby’s Flowers and Gifts store in Fort Myers in 1967. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Alfred Lamb, Sr. (1968), second husband, Howard L. Ekiss (2002), son, George Lamb, Jr. (2015), son-in-law, Don Casey, grandson, Kevin Casey, and three brothers, Lonard Neel, Jim Neel and Frank Neel. Libby is survived by her daughters, Sherry Christman (Jerry), Georgianna Scantlebury (Ned) and Helen Casey. She is also survived by her brother Gene Neel. Libby was also the loving grandmother of six grandchildren, Chuck Christman, Mike Christman, Trey Draper, Lance Draper, Kathleen Casey, and Dennis Casey. She also leaves eight great grandchildren C.J. Christman, Lauren Christman, Gary Michael Christman, Jr., Link Draper, Donovan Draper, Shelley Casey, Charlie Casey and Heather Casey. She was also survived by four great great grandchildren and 3 great-great-great grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, devoted mother, loving sister and grandmother who will be sorely missed. Visitation for Libby will be 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM followed by the funeral ceremony at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 27, 2017 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907. She will be laid to rest in the Masonic Section of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, Florida.
