Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Fox's Obituary
The family of “Nana” celebrates her peaceful passing into heaven on August 25th, 2015 after a life well lived. She was born Elizabeth Ann Shirley on October 20th, 1933 in Madison, IN to Clyde and Evelyn Shirley. Her younger brother John was born in 1936 and they remained close friends & confidants for their entire lives.Following Clyde’s death in 1944, the family moved to Ft. Myers in 1945. Her mother met and married Rex Gilliam, whom adopted Libby and John, changing their last names to Gilliam. Libby married George Fox III (Brud) in 1955, and they had three children: Bob Fox (Julia), Mary Fox (Dennis Raymond) and GT Fox (Charla). A stay at home mom for their early years, Libby then entered the mortgage business as an originator and was a top producer for many years until her retirement in 1996.Family and friends were the joy of her life and she lovingly spoiled ten grandchildren: Amy Fox Boyd (Jarrod), Ryan Nee (Brittney), Lauren Nee, Rachel Fox, Hilary Groff, Emily Fox, Trevor Fox, Michael Raymond, Chris Raymond and Sabrina Wessel plus three great-grandchildren: Rylee Boyd, Camden Boyd and Bobby Ruck. Libby had hundreds of friends and was especially close with her BFF Burlein Stafford. She knew tragedy, yet lived a life of love and laughter with poise and humor. She inspired us all, and her zest for life lives on in us. Bravo Libby, Bravo. We love you!A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel of Memories at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907 on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at 11:00am. All are invited.Following the service a reception, aka “Nanapalooza” pt. deux, will be at the home of Mary Fox & Dennis Raymond, 1318 LaFaunce Way Fort Myers, FL 33919.
