Yesterday out of the blue I thought of Elizabeth. I worked with her at BMO in Montreal and we kept in touch when the family lived at Don Mills and Steeles, but then we lost touch. I decided to look her up and was shocked to learn of her passing. I have been visiting the Cape Coral area for the last few years and did not know she lived there. Judie, Karyn and Neville, my sincere condolences. Don't know if you remember me.
So sorry for our late comments; we just heard the sad news via the BMO Cyber Pensioner News today. As bright and wonderful as Neville is, Liz helped make him even more so! Liz and Nev could turn an ordinary day into a warm, fun, and encouraging view of life when anyone was having a bad day, or even a difficult moment. One of the rare couples who welcomed everyone as family, so much so, that one can still feel like family decades later. Liz worked with my mother, Dee Rosman and they remained friends all of these years.Two yrs ago I was creating a video of friends and family to present to my mom. Liz was one of the first to respond in kind. I knew her and Neville to be two of the sweetest people I have known. My mom is devastated. My sister Elizabeth made the most of every minute of her seventy-two years. She refused to accept the word senior citizen into her vocabulary and each day continued to push the boundaries.Born in Manchester, Engand during the second world war, she was made of resilient stuff. As a child she was always energetic and curious (I have long forgiven her for cutting off my eyelashes when I was small to see if they would grow again). As an MHSG girl, she learnt persistence, independance and how to be naughty, and these qualities always remained with her.Having finally escaped the cold and drizzle of England via Canada and New Jersey she emerged into the bright sunshine of Florida and showed the locals how to have fun.With Nev by her side she travelled far and wide and provided a haven for family and friends from all over the world, without ever forgetting her roots. My sincere condolences to Judie, Karyn, Neville and the rest of the family on the passing of a beautifully generous, sincere, and warm woman. I will never forget her thoughtfulness and her attention to details and her easy way with a smile and a laugh. In the times I saw her in Edmonton and Vancouver while visiting with Judie and the kids, I always had a wonderful time talking with her and getting warm hugs. It was with her help that I was able to arrange a once-in-a-lifetime cruise for my parents' 35th wedding anniversary. I will fondly remember Liz for afternoon teas, a love of good chocolate and a suitcase at the ready. Bon voyage Liz. Your legacy will live on in your two strong, intelligent and genuine daughters and through all the lives you've touched along the way. You will be missed and never forgotten. A few years ago, Liz shared with me photos of her childhood holidays in Fowey, (Cornwall, UK) because I had told her I was planning to walk the Saints'Way, an ancient pilgrimage route running from Padstow to Fowey. This July, I did just that, and found myself thinking of her and her childhood memories and her black and white photos of herself as a girl. Memory is such a mysterious thing: where our loved ones and past experience live on … in a way, out of time. I did this painting while in Fowey: shows the 15th century blockhouse, Polruan,where the River Fowey flows into the English Channell. Liz was the only person I knew who could very gently and tactfully get Granny Ellis anywhere on time! She was generous and funny and highly intelligent. I was thrilled to be back in touch with her relatively recently. I was so glad the family got to spend precious time with her towards the end of her battle . My heart goes out to all who love her.
