Emil S. Hatapka's Obituary
Emil S. Hatapka of Cape Coral, Florida passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, April 24, 2016 following some recent health setbacks. He was 96 years old.Mr. Hatapka was born on August 2, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, the proud son of Kate (Javorek) and Stef Hatapka. Emil was preceded in death by his wife of 60 yrs. Emma (nee Rhault) and is survived by his daughter, Nannette Kruty, her husband Thomas (who he endearingly referred to as “his jailer”); Granddaughter, Sheryl Dietrich and husband Bill Dietrich, who enjoyed his military stories and the fact that Emil was one of the few remaining WWII veterans; Joey Mancini his great-grandson; sister, Rosemary Truchan of Cleveland, Ohio; and was preceded in death by his brother, Laddie of New Port Richey, Florida, and nieces and nephews, in Ohio and Massachusetts. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army who saw combat operations in Tunisia, Sicily and mainland Italy. He was a factory worker and a material handler for Ford Motor Company.Military honors will be provided by the Harney Point Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 8463 from Cape Coral on Saturday, May 7 , 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Field of Honor at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Thereafter, Mr. Hatapka will be laid to rest along with his loving wife.Arrangements for Emil’s final care are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery.
