Ernest Wm. (?Ç£Bill?Ç¥) Vernon, 89, of North Fort Myers, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010. ?áHe was born January 1921 in Belgique, MO and moved to Florida from the St. Louis area in 1989. ?áHe was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Force. ?áHe retired from the Nassau County, NY Police Department in 1976 following over 20 years of service. ?áHe was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW and was an avid guitar player. ?á?á ?á ?á ?á ?á ?áMr. Vernon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lena Vernon; his children: Bill Vernon (Nancy) of Portland, OR, Linda Garrison of Tempe, AZ, Carol Maxwell (Ed) of Norfolk, VA, Maria Hartzell (Keith) of?á?á Cape Coral and Lena Vernon of North Fort Myers; his grandchildren: Bill, Jimmy, Joshua, Doreen, Dawn, Linda, Melissa, Brandon, Brittany, Brett and Anthony and his great grandchildren: Eli, Miranda, Jordan, Eddie, Anthony, Emil, Gabriele, Madison, Donovan , Hans, Bridgett, Tommy, Mary, and Lisa. ?á?á ?á ?á ?á ?á ?áA memorial Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church followed by inurnment in Sarasota National Cemetery. ?áFuneral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
