Esther Virginia Houck's Obituary
Esther Virginia Houck, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Born on April 8, 1928, in Doerun, Georgia, Esther spent most of her life in Fort Myers, Florida. She dedicated many years of service to the Lee County School Board, where she worked faithfully and made a lasting impact on her community.
Esther is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Houck; her daughter, Gail Swetland; and her daughter-in-law, Pam Houck. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Charlie” Houck.
She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Lisa (Mickey) O’Malley, Lynn (Aaron) Bowers, Charlene (Benny) Centeno, Erin (Matt) Toll, Daniel (Maria) Swetland, and Elizabeth (Lawrence) Willard.
Esther was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She will be deeply missed by the many generations who knew and loved her as “Nanny.”
Esther’s life was defined by her devotion to her faith and family, her strong work ethic, and the quiet strength and kindness she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy of love and faith will continue through all who were fortunate enough to know her.
