Ethel Smith's Obituary
Our beloved mother, Ethel Snyder Smith, 96 years old, passed away April 10. She was born in Mayo, FL October 13, 1912. She came to Fort Myers in 1928. Ethel was loved by everyone who crossed her path in life and was called “Big Mama” by many. She will be remembered for all the beautiful wedding gowns that she made for the new brides.She was preceded in death by the children’s father, Rueben O. Snyder in 1976, his wife of 49 years and Earnest (Frog) Smith in 1993, his wife of 9 years. Ethel had 5 daughters, Eloise (Bill) Smith, Louise (Charles) Morgan and deceased (Lloyd Bell) Shirley (Alex) Carrillo, Betty Joan (Richard) Montgomery, and Anita (Robert) Kelly, her two sons, Kenneth (Maureen) Snyder and the late Robert (Dorothy) Snyder who preceded her in death in 1979. She was survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd. with burial to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
