Eugene (Gene) Wesley's Obituary
Eugene (Gene) Wesley, 80, died peacefully at the HealthPark Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Mary Wesley and sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife Kathy of Fort Myers, FL; daughter Meridith Brodeur and grandson, Max Brodeur of Sanibel, FL; niece Suzanne Edwards of Johnson City, NY and several cousins.Gene was a 1954 graduate of Vestal High School and remained involved with his school throughout his life and was an attendee at most of his class reunions. He spent his working life of 38 years at IBM Corporation and retired as a career employee. He was a member of Johnson City Unity Lodge #970 F&AM and Kalurah Shrine, Endicott, NY.Prior to his illness, he enjoyed traveling, golfing, dancing and eating out. Before moving to Florida in 2004, he was an active member of Park Terrace Community United Methodist Church where he served on the Building Committee and the SPR Committee. He also served as an advisor for UMYF Youth Group.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Traditions at the Glen, Spalding Dining Room, 4101 Watson Blvd., Johnson City, NY 13790. A luncheon will be held immediately following the ceremony in the dining room. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene’s memory to Hope Hospice, Development Department, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
