Evelina Ann Truesdale's Obituary
Evelina Ann Truesdale (nee Green), 85, lovingly known as "Aunt Nina" passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Her death as no surprise as she suffered from dementia over the past years. Her warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering kindness to all will be deeply missed.
She was born October 19, 1939, to Charles F. and Evelina Green, Sr., in Fort Myers, Florida. Her father's family were pioneers in early Fort Myers and were one of only six families living there in the 1860s. Her mother was from New York and came to the area in 1938.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles F. and Evelina Green, Sr.; and her husband, Joseph Terry Truesdale.
She was the eldest of three siblings and is survived by her sister, Mimi Long; brother, Charles Green, Jr.; daughters, Anna Ward and Thomasa Seymour; grandchildren, Dale Ward, Covington Phillips, and Portia Phillips; and two great-grandsons. In Fort Myers she has many cousins all from her original Pioneer Family.
She graduated from Fort Myers High School, Class of 1957, attended Florida State University and the Atlanta Art School. She loved Atlanta and lived there for a majority of her life. She returned to Fort Myers with her husband in 2015. One of her proudest accomplishments was 35 years of sobriety in AA and her sponsorship of many individuals within that community to build a better life.
Nina was a serious artist and exhibited in Atlanta over the years. She also taught art to children as well as adults.
An avid gardener and accomplished cook, Nina was known for her famous peanut butter cookies and her beautiful garden.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Larsen Health Center at Shell Point and Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care.
