Evelyn Markelz, born 28 Mar 1928 in Lockport, Il, passed away 31 Jan 2015.Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Church of Ascension, 6025 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, February 6, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home,1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Cremation rites will follow service. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.A resident of Fort Myers Beach since 1980, she is survived by her husband Robert and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn’s education was interrupted by WWII and other events. She married a veteran and went to work competing with McDonald’s and followed that by various department store sales and lawyer’s office positions. After her husband’s death of cancer she entered the medical field as assistant to Dr. Markelz in developing the artificial kidney program at the Silver cross hospital in Joliet, Il. She and Dr. Markelz were later married. They had no children. She retired from dialysis work in 1975 and moved to Fort Myers Beach in 1980 to do support in various projects in the. Retired Physicians’ Group. She was an avid reader, and loved dancing and gardening. Although she had none of her own, she loved children and animals. She is preceded in death by her brother Frederick Fracaro. Funeral services will be at the Church of the Ascencion later in the week.
