Evelyn D. Sumerall's Obituary
Evelyn D. Sumerall of Fort Myers, FL passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in her home. She was 94. Evelyn was born February 14, 1921 in Winthrop, MA to the late Jesse F. Dolloff and Mildred Conant Dolloff. She worked as a school teacher beginning her career in Sidney, Maine before moving to Florida. She retired from Pine Island Elementary after a long and prosperous career. She has been a long-time member of St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church of Fort Myers and was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Sumerall (1987), step-daughter Dianne Anderson, brothers, Rev. Lee Dolloff and Frank C. Dolloff; sister, Eleanor Kidwell and a grandson, David Donald Hughes. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, David E. Hughes of Tampa, FL and Donald W. Hughes, Sr. (Coral) of Cape Coral, FL; seven grandchildren, Donald Hughes, Jr. (Jen), Maria (Mike), Kirsten, Lori (David), Michelle, Robin and Shawn. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. She will be interred in her final resting place next to her husband Eugene in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Circle Fort Myers, FL 33908.
