Fernando Fernandez's Obituary
Fernando Fernandez passed away suddenly at home the evening of January 13, 2023 at the age of 70. He is survived by his life partner of 18 years, Debbie, his daughter Rita, son-in-law Jeroen, and grandson Willem Jacinto.
Born in Mexico City to Don Jacinto Fernández Granda and Matilde Maria Niembro of Asturias, Spain. He was a forty (40) year resident of Southwest Florida.
Obtaining his degree in Architecture in Mexico City, he became an AIA licensed architect in Florida. He had a long, fulfilling career building countless beautiful homes and businesses across Sanibel, Captiva, Naples and Bonita Springs.
Known to his clients for his thoughtful design and attention to detail, those around him also remember his meticulousness. Whether rebuilding his vintage Mercedes-Benz in the 90s or learning conversational French in his 60s, family and friends agree that when Fernando put his mind to something, you could be sure he would achieve it.
While a firm lover of routines – like reading the paper at lunch time or finishing the crossword puzzle every day – Fernando was also at his best when enjoying the adventures of travel, the pleasures of food, and the natural beauty of Southwest Florida, including walking or biking daily, boating, fishing, or golfing whenever he had the opportunity.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his brothers Juan Carlos and Chinto, as well as his sister Maricruz; his nephews Luis Rodrigo, Ricardo, Alan, and Bruce; his nieces Sharon and Mariana; while preceded in death by his beloved brothers Pelayo and Jose Antonio, cherished sister Maricarmen, and his godson, nephew, and namesake: Fernando.
A private celebration of life will take place later this year.
