Florence M. Carpenter's Obituary
Florence M. Carpenter was born August 10, 1925 in Manhattan, New York, lived on Long Island until moving with her family to S.W. Florida in 1974.?á Florence and husband Bill lived in Lehigh for 11 years,?á the community of Wyldewood Lakes, Fort Myers for 19 years and then resided at The Lakes ALF?áuntil Bill passed in January of 2009.?á Florence relocated to Pondella Serenity Court where she was provided loving and compassionate care.?á She passed peacefully after a very short stay at Hope Hospice House while listening to her daughter sing her favorite old songs.?á She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Evan Medford and Hortense Gomer, her brothers, Richard & Albert;?á She was the mother?áto 5 children, William Kenneth Carpenter, Nancy Lynn Ott, James Russell Carpenter, Richard Curtis Carpenter and Joyce Marie Scarbrough;?á 6 grandchildren, Sonia Renee (Carpenter) Curtis, Bryan Edward Ott, Jacob Russell Carpenter, William Richard Carpenter, Andrew Christian Scarbrough and Joshua David Scarbrough; Sonia has given three great grandchildren, Serenity Michelle Tebow, Cassidy Faith Curtis and Kylie Grace Curtis; Jacob has provided two great grandchildren, Landon Russell Carpenter and Brooke Marie Carpenter; Also surviving is a brother, Edward & his wife Jean Medford;?á Florence worked as a seamstress in NYC stitching gowns for various celebrities of that time.?áShe also created gowns for her daughters’ weddings and other occasions.?á She enjoyed sewing, music and church activities.?á Her well known smile will be missed by those who knew and loved her.?á Vistation will be held on Sunday July 31, 2009 ?áfrom 4:00-6:00 PM in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.?á Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 1, 2011 in the funeral home.?á In lieu of flowers we suggest a donation to Hope Hospice and/ or share a great smile with friends.
