Florence Mastroianni Daniele's Obituary
Florence Mastroianni Daniele passed peacefully at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers on Friday, July 25, 2014. She was a loving and much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother for 88 years. Born in Plainfield, N.J. to Dominic and Teresa Mastroianni, Florence was first of seven children of first-generation Italian immigrants. At 16 she left high school to help support her family at a variety of jobs, until marrying Frank Daniele and eventually bringing her family to Fort Myers in 1956. Soon after, she began a lifelong career with Sears Roebuck, retiring as a department manager in 1991.Flossie, as her family and friends knew her, leaves behind daughters Grace Stout (Byron), Julie Durrance (Mike), and Cindi Priebe (Carl); grandchildren the Rev. Joseph Fowler, Jordan Fowler, Richard Priebe, Michael Priebe, David Priebe and Anastasia Stout; and great grandchildren Jude, Kaden, Asa and Addison Fowler. She is survived by sisters Minnie Fania, Sue Appazzato, and Carmella Merrill, of New Jersey, and Mary Trnka of Lakeland. She was predeceased by her former husband Frank, sister Ann Pasquerello, and brother Jesse.In retirement, Flossie enjoyed some of the highlights of her life, including volunteering as a grandmother at Lee County elementary schools. She enjoyed tours of China and Mediterranean Europe, where she visited her family hometown of Maddaloni, Italy. She also accompanied her grandson, Father Joseph Fowler, to the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo, where she was presented with a rosary by St. John Paul II, in a private audience.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated jointly by her grandson, Father Joseph Fowler, and Father Stan Dombrowski at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919. At the conclusion of the Funeral Mass, friends and family will proceed to Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, where Florence will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, please instead consider a donation in Florence’s memory to Saint Cecilia Catholic Community.
