Florence Agnes Herber Tyrrell's Obituary
Florence Agnes Herber Tyrrell 3/24/1923 – 3/15/2017 “Flo” Tyrrell was born 3/24/1923 (actually 3/25/1923 at 12:00am) in New Market Township, Minnesota to Rose Marie Schuller and Anton Herber. Flo was the youngest of 5 children, including three brothers: John, Clarence and Vernie, and one sister, Margaret.Flo grew up on a farm in Elko – New Market with her family until the death of her father when she was 14. Then she, Margaret, and her mother moved to Yakima, Washington, where she graduated from Davis High School in 1942. She attended Yakima Business College, specializing in business office skills.After graduation, Flo, Margaret and their mother moved to San Francisco, CA, where Flo met her future husband, David Tyrrell Sr. They married in 1952, and eventually had six children. After travelling the country with their young family, and living in South Carolina, California, Washington, Arizona, Illinois, Idaho, Colorado, NY, Wisconsin, and other places in Florida, Dave and Flo finally landed in Fort Myers, Florida in 1972. Flo worked at Lee Memorial Hospital as a medical transcriptionist from 1972 until her retirement.Flo enjoyed ballroom dancing, music, fishing, boating, movies, and adventures with her family. She was always up for a spirited game of gin rummy, and rumor has it that she usually had an ace or two up her sleeve. She had a zest for life, and insisted on living life to its fullest, even to the end. She will perhaps be remembered most for how she was always, always laughing. As the years passed, and her children grew up, married and had children, she reminded them to remember to “Have a little fun along the way.” Her incredible spirit will live on in her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her six children: Christina Dujardin, Rebecca Tyrrell, David Tyrrell Jr. (Mariann Dickerson), Daniel Tyrrell (Elizabeth Brumley), Denis Tyrrell and Duane Tyrrell And 10 grandchildren: Thomas Catalo, Daniel Catalo, Jessica Tyrrell, David E. Tyrrell III, Kristen Barry, Ryan Tyrrell, David J. Tyrrell, Derrick Tyrrell, Gabriella Tyrrell, and Dustin Tyrrell Flo Tyrrell was one-of-a-kind and the world is richer for having known her.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
