Frances Ann Chapman's Obituary
Frances Ann Chapman, 91, of Cape Coral, FL passed away at home, Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was born December 1, 1932, in Akron, OH to the late James and Helen Chapman. Fran is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of 45 years, John Guzzetta, her Loving son Chris, (We three call ourselves the “Herd”), her Loving son Jim Hoyt of Cape Coral, loving daughter Connie Hornbeck of Stow, OH., and her dearest loving brother James Chapman of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Loving step daughter Michelle Pescatrice (Joe) of Cape Coral, Loving step son Mike Guzzetta (Debbie) of Tarpon Springs FL, loving brother and sister-in-law Art & Dianna Guzzetta of Brandon, FL., many grandkids & great grandkids. She was preceded in death by her Daughter Shery Dawson and son Mike Hoyt, and brother & sister in-law Dr. Charles Guzzetta (Nancy) of Mount Sanai, Sister-in-law Hope Merletti Moffett, NY. All of whom she loved verily!
John and Fran moved to Cape Coral in 1978 and embarked on adventure after adventure including sailing all over the Gulf of Mexico and beyond on their many sailboats, starting with their 24’ Venture to their 35’ Ericson, and a few boats in between. They joined the Caloosa Marching and Chowder Society and the Cape Coral Sailing Clubs. They won many regattas and cruised often. They also took an around-the-country driving adventure together that covered too many states to list!
Very soon after arriving Fran started working for the (Ft. Myers) News-Press Human Resources department and for around 18 years and in her tenure accumulated a vast number of grateful employees whom she helped in their work life and personal life. Several have shared their experiences with us and how she truly made them a stronger employee and more importantly, better people.
She started in the 70’s working as the Coordinator of The Taskforce on Hunger and taught inner city children in the Head Start Program in Akron, Ohio and volunteered for many programs helping a great deal of people from all walks of life.
She loved people, everyone, and everyone that met her loved her. She is and will always be missed greatly.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital, Barbara’s Friends at Golisano’s Childrens Hospital, or a charity of your choice. in her memory/honor.
