Frances E. DiFebo's Obituary
Frances Foglia DiFebo, 93 Former Greenville resident passed away February 5, 2014 in Naples, FL after a period of declining health. She was born Dec. 5, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA to Rocco and Mary DeCiancio Foglia. She graduated from Penn High School, Class of 1939, and attended Thiel College. She married Lt. Joseph DiFebo on June 22, 1943. He died August 17, 1993. She was an active member of the Thiel College community during her husband’s tenure as Thiel’s Football Coach and Athletic Director. Mrs. DiFebo served in various positions in Thiel’s Fortnightly Club and the Thiel College Woman’s Club and was a longtime advisor to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is fondly remembered as “Mrs. D.” by a generation of Thiel football players and could be seen sitting in the stands at every football game cheering on her boys. She was a talented seamstress and cook and loved to read, play bridge and do her New York Times crossword puzzles. She continued to cheer on her favorite football teams all of her life. Mrs. DiFebo was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents, brother Rocco Foglia, Jr., sisters, Sylvia Foglia, Angelina Tomasello, and Rosemarie McMasters. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Uber (Mrs. C.W.) of Huachuca City, AZ, Judy Richwine of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kristine Gibbons (Mrs. George) of Naples, FL, grandsons, Christopher Richwine of Las Vegas, NV, Jeffery Richwine of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Scott Gibbons of Naples, FL. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Hovis (Mrs. Kenneth) of Greenville and Catherine Corll (Mrs. Harry) of Ft. Myers, FL and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
