Frances Ruth Rogers' Obituary
Frances Ruth Joyce Rogers, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Tallahassee, Florida. ?áShe was born in Canal Point, FL on June 26, 1922 and was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William H. Rogers, her parents, Samuel T. and Maxine Burt Joyce, and her brother, Samuel T. Joyce, Jr., and her great-granddaughter, Rebecca Thompson.Frances resided in the Palm Beach County area until 1953, when the family moved to Ft. Myers, FL. ?áOver the years, she was actively involved in her church as a Sunday school teacher in the youth department and a leader of Girls’ Auxilliary. ?áFrances was a Red Cross Gray Lady and volunteered as a Red Cross nurse’s aide at Lee Memorial Hospital for a number of years. ?áShe had a zest for life, and spent many happy days involved in her children’s sports and school activities. ?áHer hobbies were sewing, gardening, and entertaining friends with her home-cooked meals. ?áFrances was a christian and a charter member of McGregor Baptist Church.She is survived by her son, William H. (Billy) Rogers, Jr. and daughter-in-law Debbie; her daughter, Sandra Rogers Thompson; grandchildren, James Lee Thompson, III, Frances Thompson Riniker, and Raymond Bartley Thompson; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, with a viewing at 4:00 p.m. ?áBurial will immediately follow the service.
