Francis Patrick Hyland's Obituary
Francis (Frank) Hyland, 71, of Fort Myers, Florida and Etlan Virginia passed away on 16 December after a brief illness. He was born 30 April 1941 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to the late Francis and Helen Hyland of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. A graduate of the University of Maryland and the Defense Intelligence College, he served in the Army Security Agency and retired from the National Security Agency in 1998. Author of the book Armenian Terrorism: The past, the present, the prospects, Frank taught at the American Public University, Johns Hopkins University, and the Joint Military Intelligence College. He was a member of the Society of the Order of Founders and Patriots of America, having served as the Deputy Governor of the Virginia Society and had recently been elected as Society Genealogist. A former member of the Madison Lions Club and Habitat for Humanity, he was active on the Board of Directors for Madison Troop Support . Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Susan; brother Robert of Defuniak Springs, FL; daughters Deborah and her husband Larry Brenton of St. Louis, MO and Margaret and her partner Alex Russell of Fredericksburg, VA; 2 nephews, 2 nieces and 7 great nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 PM on 19 January at Piedmont Episcopal Church, Madison VA.
