Mr. Miller was such a wonderful man. He was my teacher, coach and friend. He believed in his teams. He was knowledgeable and prepared in the sports of basketball and baseball. When he coached us, he knew the game but also strived to teach sportsmanship, preparation and desire to be our absolute best. I had the pleasure to personally know his family after graduation and he was a wonderful son to his parents, and a fine husband, father, brother and uncle. His kind and generous nature transferred to everyone he loved and knew. About 8 years ago, Mr. Miller was acknowledged by Greece Athena for all he did as a coach and teacher by being inducted to the Greece Athena Wall of Fame. I attended the ceremony and had a chance to reconnect. While in town, Mr. Miller came out to my school in Fairport and walked the halls with me. Sadly, I had the feeling that day would be the last time we would be together. Mr. Miller was a man I admired, he made a difference in my life and I will always fondly remember him for his dedication, moral character and grace as a gentleman. I'm sure he will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. God bless him and his family.

Mr Miller was my gym teacher and JV Soccer Coach. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I will always remember what a kind gentleman he was. He provided great leadership and inspiration for young men like myself at a critical time of our youth. I had a profound amount of respect for the way he carried himself and lead by example. I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Miller. My two year association with him at Greece Athena from 1970 through 1972 when I graduated, is remembered fondly. I remember always trying to "kid" with his daughters and especially remember the slippery trip on the NY Thruway in his Camaro with him and Pete Kawiak to visit Syracuse University and watch them play Colgate. After leaving for college, Coach talked me into keeping score for the B-Ball team at the Rush-Henrietta Holiday Tournament while I was home on Christmas break and making sure I came to Athena to visit when I was home on breaks. I also remember that he was NOT overly pleased when the newspaper revealed that his nickname at SU was "Stubby" and we all gave him a hard time for a few days. I was the basketball manager for him his first two years at Athena. Maybe he'll run into my Dad up there and they can have a good laugh.Rick Francis

I was fortunate to be on the Physical Education staff at Greece Athena High School when Fran was hired by Greece Central. A quiet an unassuming person he made his presence known by his commitment to student/athletes, dedication to education and a sincere demeanor in his job performance.When Fran returned to Rochester, from Florida, for the summers I had the pleasure of playing many rounds of golf with him. A great athlete… and I would tell him that "when I got to his age I wanted to play as well as he.""The Millers" also provided hospitality to his golf partners by hosting cookouts at the cottage…many great memories.Rest in peace Fran…cherished friend.
