Frank Robert Dornburg's Obituary
F. Robert Dornburg of Shell Point passed away on August 5, 2020. He was born in Mount Oliver PA on April 15, 1925 to Daisy and Frank Dornburg. Bob served as a marine on Okinawa during WWII. After the war he went to the Spartan College of Aeronautics and technology, eventually working as a flight engineer for American Airlines. The 747 was his favorite airplane. He also enjoyed flying single engine airplanes as a private pilot.
After his retirement from American Bob became a Shriner, and was a member of the color guard for the Araba Shrine of Fort Myers. Bob enjoyed playing tennis, boating, card games, rummy cube, and dancing with his wife Ginger. Bob and Ginger were members of the Sanibel UCC. He was the author of 3 books, and a woodworker who was known for his lazy susans.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister Emma McCarty, and his wife Virginia (Ginger) Dornburg.
He is survived by his 2 children Robert (Bob) Dornburg, and Jane Huskison; granddaughter, Mary Huskison; as well as nephew, James McCarty, and his niece's, Jeanne White and Susan Ellis.
