Fred David Bernard's Obituary
Marine Veteran and Estero Florida resident Fred "Dave" Bernard passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the age of 76, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest with humor.
Dave was born on Sunday, March 17, 1946, to Mary & Fred Bernard of Malden, Massachusetts. He married Margery Gordon on September 1, 1969, in Sharon, Massachusetts, and resided in Boston, Massachusetts, until 2000, when they decided to hang up their snowsuits for swimsuits.
Dave completed his Bachelor's degree at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts, and proudly served his country as a Marine in the Vietnam War. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dave. He loved a quiet evening with friends, watching sports, gardening, cruising, woodworking, and of course, a nice refreshing Budweiser; however, his favorite time was taking his beloved dog, Shiloh, to the local dog park.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents and son David Bernard. He is survived by his wife, Margery; two children who inherited his quick wit (Cheryl LiCausi (Vincenzo LiCausi) and Dominick Bernard (Kayce Bernard); five grandchildren (Alicia Bernard, Isabella LiCausi, Sofia LiCausi, Dawson Smith, Ethan Smith); great-grandchild, Avaleigh Troncoso, and brother Robert Bernard.
Dave kept people rolling in laughter because he could find humor in the most mundane life circumstances. He went out with a bang cracking jokes until the end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dave's Memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
