I met Fred when I was just 24 and he has been a positive influence and mentor in my life ever since. He has also changed many other lives for the better by supporting their career paths too. Fred certainly put me and my family on a success path through life’s journey when he hired me into the Westinghouse family back in 1967. I am forever thankful for the confidence he had in me and for the support and encouragement that he always gave to me.
I always admired how Fred was extremely capable at his job; his passion and inventiveness was quickly recognized by Westinghouse management who appointed him Chief Engineer of Switchgear Development. Fred was always on top of his game and he could always be trusted to say exactly what he thought without being concerned about political correctness.
We always enjoyed Fred’s sense of humor and his indulgencies, such as his capacity to consume 50 dollars worth of Oysters in one sitting – impressive!
Ann and I are so glad to have had the opportunity to visit Fred and Hilda over the years. I particularly cherish my visit last April when we were able to spend time talking about old times - precious memories indeed.
How to describe Fred: He was cheeky, a character, at times a grumpy old man, but always funny, interesting, loyal, and good to be with. Salt of the Earth. You will be missed Fred
We have always loved you and your family Fred and send our most sincere condolences to all and especially to dear Hilda to whom we send our special thoughts and love at this difficult time.
