Fred Lamar Chase was born, June 15, 1926, to Belle Sullivan in Plant City, Florida.?á She pre-deceased him in 1958.?á He passed away September 24th, 2012 at Barkley Assisted Living in Fort Myers with his family around him.?á He was married for 62 years to Nadine Bone Chase (the love of his life) who survives him, along with his son Thomas C. Chase, daughter in law, Donna and grandsons, David (Courtney) and Bryant.?á Fred grew up working on a strawberry farm in Plant City, living most of his life in Plant City and the last five years in the loving care of Barkley Assisted Living in Fort Myers.?á He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plant City.?á Fred served his Country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.?á As the chief of intelligence on a heavy cruiser,he fought in the Korean Conflict, once staying up for 36 hours, sending and receiving codes to keep track of a Russian sub that entered their zone.?á After the war, he worked in sales and retail convenience store management.?á He loved literature, the outdoors and people.?á Fred was a loving and gentle husband and father.?á He touched the lives of everyone he met, and was always quick to lift your spirits.?á There will be an informal memorial service at Barkley Place Assisted Living at 36, Barkley Circle in Fort Myers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.?á Please send memorial funds to Development Office Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 and/or the Barkley Place Residents Association, Attention: Jan, at 36 Barkley Circle, Fort Myers, Fla.?á 33907.?á Condolences may be left at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
