Garnet R Fleming's Obituary
Garnet R. Fleming passed away on July 16th, 2024, at her home. Garnet had a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was born November 7, 1934, in La Crosse Wisconsin to Ellsworth and Amy (Strahl) Viner. She attended school in La Crosse, Wisconsin where she graduated from Central High School in 1952. After completing High School, she attended the University of La Crosse, graduating with a degree in Elementary and Secondary Education.
She taught elementary grades in Beloit, Wis. Zion, IL, Morton Grove, IL, and at Our Lady Immaculate Academy in Oak Park, IL.
On February 16th, 1957, she married Leonard Fleming in La Crosse Wis. Together they had four children Cynthina (Steve) Wakolbinger, Joseph, Gerald (Debbie) and Mary Fleming.
Garnet is survived by her husband, and four children, as well as her grandchildren, Gerald Fleming, Katherine Fleming, Jennifer Wakolbinger, Matthew (Katilyn) Fleming, Michael Wakolbinger, Bridget (Irving) Carnalla and Julie Wakolbinger, as well as nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Darlene (Alfred) Lassig, Carole (Jan) Whitbeck, as well as sister in laws Marge (Ellsworth) Viner, Joan (Wayne) Viner, Ruth (Harland) Viner, Lesile (Harold) Viner, Judy (Fleming) Halderson, and two brothers in law Norm (Judy) Halderson, Cletus (Carole) Fleming, and over 50 nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Irene (Earl) Eveland six brothers Ellsworth (Marge) Viner, Wayne (Joan) Viner, Eldon (Helen) Viner, Harland (Ruth) Viner, Eugene (Ginny) Viner and Harold (Lesile) Viner brother in laws Daniel (Mary) Craig, Alfred (Darlene) Lassig, Jan (Carole) Whitbeck, Earl (Irene) Eveland sister in law Mary (Dan) Craig, Pat (Cletus) Fleming, Helen (Eldon) Viner, Ginny (Eugene) Viner two nephews Timothy Viner, Paul Viner and one niece Lori Halderson. Finally, she was preceded in death by her infant grandchild Margaret Fleming.
Garnet's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of her final arrangements. A visitation for Garnet will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 from 5PM-8PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 12PM at Our Lady Queen of Angels 376 Prospect Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33905 with burial to follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
