Gayle Patricia Gdovin's Obituary
Gayle Patricia Gdovin, 80, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at VITAS Hospice. Formerly of Lompoc, California, Gayle had made Fort Myers her home since 1995.
Born on October 27, 1944, in Buffalo, New York, Gayle was the daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret (Brown Grimes) Schrimmel. She graduated from Kenmore West High School and proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1965.
Gayle dedicated much of her working life to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant in home healthcare. After retiring in 1996, she settled in Lake Arrowhead Mobile Home Village, where she quickly became an active and beloved member of the community.
A woman of many passions, Gayle was an avid golfer and enthusiastic bowler. She was also a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and a proud member of American Legion Post 90. More than anything, Gayle cherished her family and the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her loving children, Michelle (PJ) Papp and Stephen Gdovin III; and her adored grandchildren, Lauren (Katie) Chisholm, Jordan (Michael) Levy, Matthew Jaenicke, Daniel (Sarah) Papp, and Joshua Papp.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave., Cape Coral, FL 33991. Burial will follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
Gayle will be remembered for her warm heart, strong spirit, and the love she shared so generously with family and friends.
