George Benn Althouse's Obituary
George Benn Althouse of Cape Coral, FL passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Cape Coral Hospital. He was 78. George was born November 5, 1936 in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Warren B. Althouse and Mary C. Harrar Althouse. He was a retired military man having served proudly in the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the George Brodsky V.F.W. Post #10127 of Cape Coral. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife Renate “Ricky” Rinike Althouse. He is survived by his sister, Sue S. Althouse of Gladwyne, PA; his brother, Howard W. Althouse of Louisville, KY and 5 nieces and nephews; Cheryl (Jim) Bradley of Fairhope, AL, Leslie Hartel of Louisville, KY, Lori Revell of Louisville, KY, Bruce Althouse of Louisville, KY, Eric Althouse of Tallahassee, FL and many great nieces and nephews. George is also survived by his cousins, Sue Cooper of Cleona, PA, Robert Cooper of Birmingham, AL, Edith Drebot of Malvern, PA and numerous friends from the VFW Post and his community. Lastly, he leaves behind his devoted companion and friend, Jerry, his dog. A Memorial Visitation will be held 12noon until 1pm with a Memorial Service at 1pm, Monday, March 9, at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Blvd. Fort Myers, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the George Brodsky V.F.W. Post #10127, 996 Pondella Rd. N Ft Myers, FL 33903 or the American Cancer Society 4575 Via Royale #110, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
