George E. Benson Jr, 79, of Fort Myers, Florida died peacefully this week, his family by his side. Born in South Kingstown, Rhode Island on November 18, 1942, where he lived with his wife and two daughters until he retired to Flor Read Obituary
So sad to hear the news of George's passing. We were neighbors when I was growing up and " Mr. Benson" used to let us kids play football in his huge front yard. George was a great guy, so kind and personable. Robinson St. will forever miss you Mr. Benson.

I was very saddened to hear of George's passing and my deepest sympathy goes to Paulette and the family. George will be missed by many. I've known George since playing on the little league team George Sr. managed. We were great friends through school and while playing ball together most of our lives. We volunteered with my Special Olympian son and George was a mentor and a hero. He was sincere, considerate, and well respected. I was very fortunate to have him as a friend and I wish I could be with him for one more brew.

I am sorry to learn of George's death. My condolences to his lovely family. George was a great guy. I knew him in grade school and high school. He was full of life, friendly and kind, a good sportsman, and good-looking. George had a good life; I knew a bit about his adult years through conversations with his friend Ron. George made a difference in this world.
My deepest sympathy to George’s family. Crushed is the only word I had when told of George’s passing. George truly did so much for so many. His obituary hit the ball with the barrel of the bat. He was a team leader and a team player who went above and beyond to help others enjoy life. By coaching George helped keep a very large group of “young” athletes playing softball and basketball together until they were “old men”. He was a role model in work and play for the entire community. George was the definition of unselfish and fair. George would play others before himself not because they were better players than he was, but because that’s who George was! He’s now in heaven putting the old teams back together and doing good things for others. I know that I am not alone in saying, thank you Paulette and family for sharing him with us. Rest In Peace George!!
