George James Burns, 87, of Fort Myers, FL died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Cape Coral Hospital. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials have been suggested to be given to the family of George James Burns. George was born April 22, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the son of George William and Mildred Ethel (Thorson) Burns. He was a veteran of the US ARMY. As a civilian he was an owner and operator of a building development company. He was a member of AMVETS, participated in the Cape Coral Bowling League, and enjoyed boating, gardening and especially electrical work. Surviving are his wife of 48 wonderful years, Teresa; siblings, Claire Volich of Arlington Heights, IL, Marge Walter of Glenview, IL, Grace Younge of Rapid City, SD, Victoria, Stillwell of Cape Coral, FL; nephews, Gregory Tuck, of Fort Myers, FL and Roger Tuck of Boynton Beach, FL. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens has been entrusted with the care of George.
