George Daley's Obituary
George Daley, 78, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, at Gulf Coast Memorial Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Galveston, Texas, on October 10, 1945, to Zelma and James Daley, George was the youngest of eleven children. Tragically, his parents passed away when he was just five years old, and he, along with two of his sisters, spent their childhood in an orphanage. Despite the challenges of his early years, George grew into a man of resilience, compassion, and remarkable character.
George leaves behind his devoted wife, Pamela Hall; his daughter, Virginia Platt, and her husband, Bob Platt; and three beloved grandchildren, Eveleen, Daniel, and Penelope Platt. He is also survived by his son, James Daley; his grandson, Devon Daley; and his stepson, Tim Hall, and his wife, Kim.
Known as a master of conversation and a fountain of knowledge, George had a unique “gift of gab” that enabled him to connect with people from all walks of life. His ability to engage with both close friends and new acquaintances led to countless meaningful relationships and brought him great success in the business world over several decades.
George also had an extraordinary talent for engineering and problem-solving, first honed during his time in the Navy, where he earned an engineering degree. His ability to take things apart and rebuild them was impressive and became one of his lifelong passions.
Beyond his professional achievements, George found joy in spending time with his family, sharing stories, and putting his skills to work fixing and creating. He will be remembered for his wit, wisdom, and the love and support he shared so freely with those around him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, with a luncheon to follow, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in George’s memory.
George Daley’s journey was marked by strength, perseverance, and a profound ability to bring joy and inspiration to those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
