George Frank Schnepf's Obituary
George Frank Schnepf, 93, of Fort Myers, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016. He was born April 8, 1923 in Queens, NY, the son of George S. and Madeline (nee Martin) Schnepf. In 1988, he and his wife moved to Fort Myers following his retirement from New York Telephone Company after 20 years of service. He was a proud Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Radioman aboard the USS-LST #398 in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the V. F. W., Loyal Order of Moose and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Community and loved to travel. Mr. Schnepf is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Catherine Mary Schnepf; his children: George J. Schnepf (Theresa) and Charles M. Schnepf (Kathleen), both of New York, Bryan F. Schnepf (Dawn) of Connecticut and Gregory P. Schnepf of New York; his grandchildren: Dina (Matthew), Gary, Angel, Charles (Sarah), Breanne, Ian and Robin; his great grandchildren: Matthew and Patrick; his siblings: Alice Haynes and Gladys Hance, both of New York, Madeline Reitz of Virginia Beach, VA, Dorothy Wolf of Virginia and Ann Schnepf of Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 25, 2016 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Community, 13031 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery where military rites will be rendered by the United States Navy. Friends will be received from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or www.hopehospice.org.
