George Conrad Propps' Obituary
George C. Propps, 90, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on May 24, 2024, surrounded by love, prayers and the positive energy of his faith and family.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, George was a beloved husband, father of 3, grandfather of 5, and great grandfather of 5. Predeceased by his brother, David Propps, his sister, Marilu Propps & his wife of 46 years, E Diane Nielsen. He is survived by their 3 daughters: Angela J. Duncan, Brenda J. Kelley, and Carla J. Hyde, his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Wester Propps, her son, Jason Wester & daughter, Julia Wester, and his grandchildren: Ryan Duncan, Brent Duncan, Andrew Kelley, Amanda Jones, and Jacob Kelley.
George was fun loving, energetic, and creative. He was an entrepreneur, builder, developer, accountant, draftsman, CPM, Realtor, artist, traveler, photographer, and a pilot who flew with the Sundowners in Ft. Myers. He was a meditation and Buddhism teacher and major benefactor who raised awareness to the plight of the Tibetan people. He had a quick wit and a contagious smile that could light up any room. Everybody loves George! George’s pride was his family, and he built a life for and around them.
After graduating from high school, George studied at Indiana University, a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, and served in the United States Army.
George will always be remembered for his love, compassion, generosity, and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank George’s amazing team of caregivers and the American House staff for their kind support and graciousness.
A Memorial Celebration Service for George will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:30 AM inside the Colonial Family Center at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd. (wear burgundy, not black, for George. And bring a favorite photo or memory to share.) Reception immediately following at Cristof’s on McGregor, 10231 McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers.
