George Christian Wagener's Obituary
George Christian Wagener, 96, of Rockville Centre, New York and Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. He was born July 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to George Christian Wagener, Jr. and Lillian Reydel Wagener. He had been a very active member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club for over 50 years, and he owned and restored several vintage vehicles. He proudly served the United States Army during World War II where he worked in communications, coding and decoding messages. He supported many charities, especially those involving animals.Mr. Wagener is survived by his daughter, Mary Griffin Seal (Stephen) of Fort Myers; his grandchildren: Scott Griffin (Gretchen) and Laura Griffin, and his two great grandchildren: Natalie and Noah. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Oralynn M. Wagener in 2012.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am Saturday, August 18, 2018 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. Friends will be received from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
