Georgianna E. Bisplinghoff's Obituary
Georgianna Emily Bisplinghoff, age 90, passed away on November 10, 2013, in Fort Myers, FL. Georgia was born on May 15, 1923 in Port Henry, New York, to the late Raymond S. Cross and Emma Sheldon Cross. She grew up on a farm in the Adirondack Mountains, and enjoyed skiing and ice skating with her six brothers and sisters. She served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. In 1945 she married Fred D. Bisplinghoff and moved to the Midwest, living in Columbia and Linneus Missouri, and Mason City and Peoria Illinois, before settling in Florida in 1985. Georgia and her husband Fred were life long members of the Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the P.E.O and Eastern Star, and also volunteered her services through the years to Meals on Wheels and the Girl Scouts, as well as working as a hospital volunteer. Georgia was known to all as a gentle, kind and generous person. She loved birds and flowers, but her passion in life was her family, to whom she was devoted. She will be remembered most as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Georgia is survived by her loving husband Fred; her son Fred Jr. (Susie); her daughter Suzanne; grandchildren Jennifer Gentry, Noah (Julie) Cornick, Amy Bisplinghoff and Fred Bisplinghoff III; great-grandchildren Miranda Gentry and Cole Bisplinghoff; brother David Cross; nieces, nephews and many friends who miss her dearly. Georgia is predeceased in death by her parents, her brothers Raymond Cross, Thomas Cross and John Cross, and her sisters Jean Clark and Joyce Fiet. A Celebration of Georgia’s life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers FL 33907. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:00, with services beginning at 12:00.
