Gerald Ralph Means' Obituary
Gerald Ralph Means, 75, a longtime resident of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully Sunday, February 28, 2021 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born in Marysville, KS on September 23, 1945 to the late Ralph and Emma Means. The family moved to Salina KS where he attended elementary and Salina High School. While in High School he was a member of The National Honor Society and the Drama Club.
Jerry was a proud United States Army Veteran and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Journalism. He completed his education at George Washington University with an MBA. Jerry spent his career as a Sales Executive with Baxter International Healthcare. He met and married his wife, Sandy in Louisville, KY where he lived for 16 years. While attending K-State University he joined the Fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon and served as President. In Lee County FL he was a member of the Rotary Club of Estero, a past director of Lee County Roadway Landscape Committee and served on the Board of Directors at The Harborage. Jerry enjoyed gardening, traveling, boating, snow skiing and cycling up to 50 plus miles a day. He will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor and dedication to physical exercise.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sandra Rademaker of Fort Myers, FL; one sister, Pat Huffman (Jack); three nieces, Laura Lutgen (Jerry), Jan Garton (Mike) and Jennifer Halderman. Also one nephew, Curtis Pierce (Janeen) and several great nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his sister Dava Pierce (Charlie).
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
