Gerald M. Nelson, 84, of North Fort Myers, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018. He was born July 3, 1933 in Cedar Falls, IA to George and Viola (Rosenthau) Nelson. Mr. Nelson moved to Florida from Cheyenne, WY in 1966. He was a member of Winkler Road Baptist Church.Mr. Nelson is survived by his children: Douglas McKissick (Glenna) of North Fort Myers, Pamela Vercoe (Vernon) of Conshohocken, PA, Gary Nelson, (Christine) of Olympia, WA and Steve Kastli of Iowa. Also surviving is his brother, Marion Nelson of Arkansas, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.A memorial service will be held for Mr. Nelson and his wife Nancy, who preceded him in death January 27, 2018, at 4:00 PM Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Winkler Road Baptist Church, 5770 Winkler Road, Fort Myers.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
