Gerald G. Quimby's Obituary
Gerald George Quimby of Shell Point in Fort Myers, Florida passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014 following a recent illness with his loving family at his side. He was 87 years old.Gerald was born on October 30, 1926 in Newton, Massachusetts the proud son of Mae (Benzaquin) and Charles N. Quimby. He was a member of the “Greatest Generation” and was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He spent his career in Massachusetts as a marketing specialist in the petroleum industry before moving to Southwest Florida in 1992. After retirement, he was an active resident at Shell Point where he joined the Choir and enjoyed their many other activities and amenities.He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Trudy; his daughter Suzanne Reed (Jeff); his daughter-in-law Debbie Quimby; his grandchildren Joelle Reidy, Erik Reed, Brad Reed, Garret Quimby and Gabrielle Quimby. He also leaves behing three great-grandchildren, a number of extended family and a multitude of people who were proud to call him a friend. Sadly, he was recently preceded in death by his son Glenn Quimby.Memorial Services will be held a future date both at Shell Point and by the family in Massachusetts.
