Gerald A. Simandl's Obituary
Gerald A. Simandl, 83, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 1954, formerly of Milwaukee, WI passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020. He was born August 4, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Ervin and Marie Simandl.
Jerry was manager of the Boy's Department at Cooley Westbrook Men’s and Boy’s Wear from 1956 to 1975. He then opened Jerry’s Men’s and Boy's Wear in the Coral Gate Shopping Center on Pondella Road and Orange Grove Blvd. from 1975-1985. He loved his customers and could guess their size on sight. He then retired and spent summers in Missouri at his parent's family farm growing and selling tomatoes at a farmer's market in Willow Springs, MO and winters in North Fort Myers.
He was very involved in NFM little league on Piney Rd. and Pop Warner Football, in Waterway Estates.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2018; as well as his brother, Ervin Simandl.
Gerald is survived by his two loving children, Jerry Simandl (Dawn Arena – Simandl) of Kissimmee, FL and Terri Simandl (Mike Bruce) of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Rita, Rose and Clare; two brothers, Wally and Charlie; five grandchildren, Jaime, Christina, JR, Krista and Stephanie; five great grandchildren, Brittney, Noah, Hailey, Lachlan and Ademaro.
A Memorial Service will be held 12 NOON, Friday, July 3, 2020 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens reminds everyone to maintain social distancing while in the funeral home.
