Geraldine (Gerry) Pierce Alexander White's Obituary
Geraldine (Gerry) Pierce Alexander White of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away August 29, 2023.
Gerry was born on October 4, 1930, in Bristolville Ohio, the daughter of Rev. Lloyd Carl Pierce and Mirtie Fenton Pierce, who both have preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband Walter (Don) White, five brothers: William, Paul, Leo, Neal and Don and two sisters: Eunice Colvin and Christine Betteys.
Gerry spent most of her growing up years in Western Pennsylvania near the small town of Lickingville. She graduated from Farmington Township High School in 1948. During those years she helped as her father developed the Pine Ridge Gospel Tabernacle. After marriage she moved to Wilmore, Kentucky and attended Asbury College and University of Kentucky. She moved to Burlington, North Carolina in 1956 where she attended Elon College. After working in the construction business for several years she started her own business and was the first female builder of single-family homes in that area.
She married Don White in 1986 and moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 2002. She is survived by two children of her first marriage, Stanley Gayle Alexander and wife, Linda Stephens, of Fort Myers and Douglas Paul Alexander and wife, Elizabeth Moon, of Boxford, Massachusetts, and one grandchild, Taylor Stephens Alexander of Fort Myers. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Myers and attended faithfully until her transition to fulltime memory care. It was her wish to not have a funeral or memorial service. She requested that her friends remember her as you last knew her. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2331 LaVista Drive, Burlington, NC 27215 or Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33908.
