Geren Lawrence Woodcook's Obituary
Geren Lawrence Woodcook born January 8, 1937 went home to live with his Lord and friend Jesus Christ on October 28, 2016. Throughout his life Geren had many friends. He loved people and enjoyed sharing his faith with others. Geren was a devoted husband to his beautiful and loving wife Lois for 59 years. His eyes lit up whenever Lois entered the room. Their love for one another shone bright to all who knew them. Geren also adored his daughters Brenda and Shellie, always praising and encouraging them in whatever they did throughout their lives. Geren sold for NAPA Auto Parts in Owego, NY for 17 years and custom painted cars in his garage. Later he started up and owned G&L Auto Sales for 35 years. Geren was a lifetime member of Owego Church of the Nazarene where he was involved in many aspects including leading worship, youth Sunday School, and was on the church board. Geren was a generous giver and sometimes spoke at other churches on the blessings of giving to God’s Kingdom. Later in life, Geren and his wife, Lois, spent summers at the 1000 Islands, NY and winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL. Geren loved to take his boat or Jet Ski exploring the vast waters in both places. Not only did he enjoy, as he put it “God’s Creation”, he also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, skiing, tubing or swimming off the boat or at the beach. Geren was the son of Earl and Rena Woodcook who preceded him in death as did his sister Evelyn and brother Arnold. He is survived by his sister Mary Ellen and brother Bud. He is also survived by his wife Lois, daughter Brenda Krohn and husband Michael, her son Branson Dunlop his wife Tasha and daughter Harper; and her son Riley Dunlop and his fianc??’ Natalie. Geren is also survived by his daughter Shellie Erickson, her son Jesse Erickson and his wife Hollie, her son Shea Erickson and fianc??’ Taylor and daughter Alyssa Erickson. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Indian Creek RV Resort, Iroquois Hall 17340 San Carlos Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931 and this summer at Owego Church of the Nazarene in Owego, NY.
