Giorgina Grilli's Obituary
Giorgina Grilli, a long time resident of Cape Coral, Florida, earned her wings on Saturday the 11th of July, at Joanne’s House Hospice in Bonita Springs, Florida.Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, chapel of Light Mausoleum, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907.Born in Turino, Italy in 1939, Giorgina spent the next 17 years there before traveling to the United States in 1956. In 1958, she married Ernani Grilli in New Haven, Connecticut. Together, they had three children and built a life full of love and happiness. In 1985, the entire family moved from Connecticut to Florida. Giorgina worked in the family car repair business, transporting customers and assisting where ever she could. In 1998, Ernani passed away only a few short months before their 40th wedding anniversary. In 2001, Giorgina met Donato Colicchia. They shared the next 14 years together traveling, making wine, and enjoying family and friends. Giorgina was an amazing cook and made everyone in her presence feel welcomed, loved, and full (as she loved to feed everyone, even stray animals). Her smile was magnificent and those that knew her have many heartfelt memories of her vibrant personality.She is survived by Donna Michaelessi (daughter), Jim Sculthorpe, and grandson, Anthony; Umberto (son) and Andrea Grilli, grandchildren, Ernani and Christen, and great grand daughter, Izabella; Stefano (son) and Deb Grilli, and grand daughter, Gabrielle. She is also survived by her sister, Marisa Grande and Frank (brother) and Rosemary Furlan. She had many nephews, nieces, and and an abundance of additional family and friends.Donations can be made to the LMHS Foundation ALS Clinic Fund. P.O. Box 2218, Fort Myers, Florida 33902.
