My deepest sympathy to all the family. Gloria Lee was my favorite cousin – we spent many times together when we were both young. Even though I have not seen her for many years, I have many fond memories of the times we spent together – she is still my favorite cousin. Donna (Lamson) Barnett
Thank you!
Thank You 😘
Lit a candle in memory of Gloria Hatfield Hughes
Gloria Hughes is my mother. She was one of a kind. She was the first of five children born on May 7, 1946 to Forrest And Gloria Hatfield. She graduated from Caldwell Highschool in Ohio. She marriEd Larry Dean Hughes of Caldwell, Ohio and they had four daughters Wende Williams of North Fort Myers, myself Mende Ragan of Naples, Florida, Andrea Kirschner deceased of Fort Myers Florida and Jessica Kirschner of Fort Myers, Florida and five grandchildren, Leirin Ragan, Brandon Williams, Billy Ragan, Olivia Williams and Scarlett Garvin. I remember when I was in elementary school thinking I had the prettiest mother of anyone. She was the best cook and always made food and baked for everyone. She never went anywhere without looking so beautiful. When she walked into a room everyone looked like who is that beautiful woman! But she also took great pride in her family and her home. She took such great care of the many animals and horses we raised. I feel that anyone who is tender and caring to animals is a person of great character. She was a hard worker and never ever left the side of Annie her third daughter who was born with a rare liver disease who needed continuous care of which she provided without ever once complaining for the twenty eight years of her life until she passed in 1998. Two years later her husband (my wonderful father) Larry Dean Hughes passed away from complications of a stroke. She took care of my father and got her real estate license so she could provide for my father and Jessica still of the home at the time and did the best she could to provide for them and still be the best mother and wife she could be. Jessica was born three months premature and she called her her little premie. They grew up to be the best of friends. A little over two years ago Jess had a baby girl named Scarlette who my mother watched for the first year of her life until her health wouldn't allow her to continue doing. My mother loved her little dog she's had for the past four years who was her constant companion. My sister has her little dog now and he will bring joy to their home. She loved to travel and took her parents and younger daughters Andrea and Jessica on a trip through the United States. My father and her loved to travel and hosted many parties and barbecues at their home. They opened an Auto Auction and and had farm auctions and owned Interstate Sales off of Palm Beach Blvd. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was very generous and so enjoyed giving to her family whether it was making her strawberry jam, baking her wonderful pies and cakes or making a meal for her family never expecting anything in return other than to know you enjoyed it. I could go on and on about how great she was and I'm so thankful for the time we spent together. A few years ago my husband wanted to take her and his mother to Alaska while they both were still able to make the trip. I wouldn't trade that trip for anything. It will be one of the highlights of my life. The day before my mother passed we talked about some of the great memories we had. Little did I know that would be a day I will treasure for the rest of my life. I loved her so much!!!
Gloria always enjoyed life to the fullest. Our deepest sympathy to her family, she will be deeply missed. May Jesus wrap his arms around you all and give you peace. Love and prayers to you all.
