Gordon A. Fore's Obituary
Gordon A. Fore of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 in Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida. He was 82. Gordon was born Saturday, February 23, 1935 in Carbondale, Illinois; the beloved son of the late Clifford and Evelyn Fore. A resident of southwest Florida since 1960, he worked as a sales representative with Asgrow Florida Company; a subsidiary of the Upjohn Co. His career found him fulfilling the various supply needs of the many growers and agricultural entities of the Fort Myers / Southwest Florida region. His interest in agriculture transcended beyond his career as an expert grower and member of the James E. Hendry Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society in Fort Myers. In 1985 Gordon served as president of the Fort Myers chapter and ultimately served at the national level as the president of the American Hibiscus Society. Gordon was a devoted 33rd degree mason and longtime member of the Tropical Masonic Lodge #56 F. & A. M. in Fort Myers, Florida. Gordon honored the members of the lodge through his attendance and recitation (from memory) of the masonic funeral rites and ceremonies. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Shrine and the Grotto and was also a Silver Beaver Boyscout. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Fore. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 38+ years, Linda Fore and their children, Lynn Richards (Jody), Scott Fore (Kristen), David Moore (Sandra) and Lisa Dodd (Curtis). He is also survived by his two sisters, Carolyn Kirk and Kathryn DeMent. Gordon is the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren, Amanda, Justin, Megan, Shannon, Jason, Gracie and Parker and six great grandchildren, Savannah, Austyn, Braxton, Charlotte Rose, Colton and Madison. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, dear brother, loving grandfather and committed friend who will be dearly missed. Masonic funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Tropical Lodge #56 F. & A. M., 10868 Metro Parkway, Fort Myers, Florida 33966. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
