Gordon Dale Meiers' Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gordon D. Meiers, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. Gordon was born on March 11, 1940, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late Francis and E. Alice (Reynolds) Meiers.
In 1958, at just 18 years old, Gordon married the love of his life, Karen Parks, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 58 wonderful years. He went on to build a successful career in engineering, holding various positions before relocating to Fort Myers in 1973. There, he served as the Lee County Engineer and later acquired and ran Ink Engineering, a thriving and well respected business. He was known as an encouraging leader who shared his knowledge and experience to inspire and develop the next generation of engineers in the community.
Gordon’s life was defined not only by his professional success but by his many passions and adventurous spirit. He was a certified diver, skilled skier, and licensed pilot. His love for the outdoors led him to farm his orange grove and embrace life as a cowboy, working on his cattle ranch alongside his sons. An avid golfer and member of Cypress Lake Country Club, Gordon found great joy on the golf course, cherishing both the sport and the friendships it brought him.
Those who knew Gordon will remember his warmth, integrity, sharp wit, and zest for life. His positive spirit and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gordon was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen, in 2016, and his brother, Larry F. Meiers. He is survived by his loving wife, Marita Meiers; his sons, Todd Meiers (Barbara) and Damon Meiers (Stephanie); three cherished grandchildren, Jesse Meiers (Tracy), Cody Meiers (Lauren), and Ashley Meiers; and two adored great-granddaughters, Murphie and Marley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL. Following the service, Gordon will be laid to rest in the Sylvan Terrace Garden of Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Gordon’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
