Gregory Dale Conn's Obituary
Dale Conn, 61, of Fort Myers died Monday April 5, 2010, having suffered a lethal heart attack a week prior. Dale was on duty as a deputy with the Lee Co Sheriffs Dept when the attack occurred and he never regained consciousness.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Anne; three daughters Angela, Gennifer (Ron), Preslie (Art); son Craig; two brothers, Donn (Pat), Tim (Bianca) and their families; His mother Ruth Tucker (Larry). Also 5 grandchildren: Nathan, Hannah, Emory, Ryleigh, and Brandon.Dale was born in Chattanooga, TN in 1948. The family moved to Fort Myers in 1960. Dale always loved serving in law enforcement. Through the years he served with the Fla. Highway Patrol, Fort Myers Police Dept. and for 12 years with the Lee Co. Sheriffs Dept.Dale could never bear to see things going to waste and his hobby was looking for abandoned items along the highways. He had quite a collection all salvaged for future use (maybe). His pride and joy besides his kids and grandkids was the log cabin he had built with his own hands in the mountains of Cosby, TN. Dale always carried trillions of photos to show to whoever would stop and look. He and Mary Anne named the cabin “Solitary Confinement” and enjoyed the restful short vacation times they spent there.The viewing will be held on Friday April 9 at McGregor Baptist Church at 1:00pm and the funeral service will follow at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Blue Line Fund in care of Lee Co. Sheriffs Dept. 14750 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy. Fort Myers, FL 33912.
