Gregory L. Henning's Obituary
Gregory L. “Greg” Henning, 76, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at HealthPark Medical Center.
Formerly of Mamaroneck, NY Greg had been a resident of Fort Myers since 2005. He was born August 15, 1949, in Port Chester, New York, the son of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Hayden) Henning.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Greg honorably served his country in the United States Army. He went on to build a successful career as a mechanical engineer. He worked for Gasket Engineering in Kansas City, Missouri, and Hirol Engineering in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In retirement, Greg precious moments were spent with his family and close friends.
Greg was a passionate student of history and a die-hard fan of the New York Football Giants. He had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and design, which was reflected in his love for cars and motorcycles—especially his prized Isso Revuelto and Royal Enfield motorcycle.
Above all, Greg cherished his family. He shared an exceptionally close bond with his daughter, Kristyn, from the day she was born. He remained a constant presence throughout her life, guiding and celebrating every milestone. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, creating moments they will forever treasure.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Kristyn (Michael) Licata of Fort Myers, FL; his cherished grandsons, Vincent Licata and Joseph Licata; his former wife, Vera Karam of Fort Myers, FL; step-sons, Marcio Karam and his son, Sergio of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Eduardo (Tonya) Karam and their daughter, Tatiana of Fort Myers, FL; He also leaves behind his siblings, Nancy Quinn, Jeffrey Henning, Kenneth Henning, and Gary Henning; along with dear lifelong friends and Kristyn’s God Parents who referred to Greg as "Henry," Vito and Mary Piacente of Fair Lawn, NJ, who held a special place in his life.
A memorial service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. The service will conclude with Military Honors.
Greg will be remembered for his service, his intellect, his passions, and most of all, his unwavering love for family.
