Gregory Francis Pomper's Obituary
Gregory Francis Pomper, 78, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL, since 2011, formerly of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Cape Coral, FL. Greg was born on September 8, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Edward and Kathleen (Holst) Pomper.
Until retiring in 2010, Greg spent his adult life in the commercial tire industry in various locations in Detroit and Battle Creek, Michigan, St. Charles, Missouri, Collierville, Tennessee, Bel Air, Maryland and Rogers, Arkansas.
Greg was a longtime parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Fort Myers, FL. He had a passion for golfing, sailing, boating and traveling, but above all, he cherished socializing with family and friends. Greg was a kind man whose presence would light up any room.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Suzanne Collins Pomper, in 2015. Greg found his second love, Linda Sue Wilder, in 2017, and the two were married in 2022.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sue Wilder; daughter, Linda Pomper Hazelwood (Brent); stepdaughter, Tonjia Lee Pigott Doeden; three brothers, Michael Pomper (Carol), John Pomper (Nancy) and James Pomper (Dina); six grandchildren, Rebecca, Katie and Nick Hayes and Brandon Troy, Adam Dennis and Beka Leigh Doeden; seven great grandchildren, Emily, Noah, Daphnie, Henna, Wyatt, Temperance and Zoe; seven nieces and nephews, Angela (Andrew) Beier, Amanda (Peter) Gillespie, David (Amber) Pomper, Katie Topp (Nick), Theresa (Josh) Williams, Josh Pomper and Hannah Pomper; seven grand nieces and nephews, Jaiden Pomper, Austin, Alan and Aubrey Beier, Chloe Gillespie, Miller John Pomper and Eleanor Pearl Pomper (known by all as Nora); as well as many friends around the country.
Greg’s memory will be fondly cherished by his wife, Linda, family. and countless friends who were touched by his generosity and warmth.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Fort Myers, FL. All are invited to a luncheon at the clubhouse at Palm Island, 9490 Palm Island Circle, North Fort Myers, Florida (entrance off Orange Grove Boulevard).
